Patient Navigator – Bilingual and bi-cultural (Cantonese/Mandarin or Spanish)

The California Division of the American Cancer Society has an immediate opening for a Patient Navigator (PN) located on-site at San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (SFGH) in San Francisco, CA. Set in a clinical setting, a multicultural team of oncologists, nurses, social workers, support staff and patient navigators work together to ensure all patients receive high quality care. The PN acts as a representative of the American Cancer Society and works cooperatively with the San Francisco General Hospital Oncology Team, especially the Medial Social Services Department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

B.A./B.S in human/health sciences or related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience in a community hospital/clinic setting; Minimum of three ( 3) years experience providing hospital services and/or support to cancer patients in a public or community health setting; Bilingual and bicultural Cantonese/Mandarin or Spanish (oral and written.); Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups ;Computer literacy, including Lotus Notes, Excel, Word and Outlook; Energy, enthusiasm, motivation, and an ability to work independently and confidentially; Excellent people skills – relationship building, empathy, sensitive and caring approach to working with ethnically diverse, medically underserved patients and their families; Demonstrated ability to work as a team.
