A special message from the CPHA-N President, Dave Spath, PhD, MS

As the new President of CPHA-N, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members for your continued willingness to support the organization. These are difficult economic times for Californians and their governments. State and local public health programs have been severely cut and further reductions are being proposed.

In the face of these setbacks to the State’s public health infrastructure, CPHA-N must continue to be a voice in support of those in our communities who are most affected and are most in need. Because of the diversity of our membership, CPHA-N is in a unique position to be able to advise the Legislature and policy makers within state government of the impacts of their budgetary and policy decisions.

In addition, we must continue to build coalitions with other public health and related organizations to add weight to our efforts to protect and strengthen our diminished public health infrastructure. I look forward to working with all our members to achieve the goal of improving the public health status of all Californians.
