CCPHA Awards Luncheon
California Center for Public Health Advocacy plans awards luncheon for March 3rd
On March 3, 2010 the California Center for Public Health Advocacy is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a special luncheon honoring three exceptional people:
- Michael Pollan (introduced by Alice Waters);
- Dr. David Kessler (former FDA Commissioner) and
- The Honorable Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento).
The luncheon will be on March 3rd at the Nikko Hotel in San Francisco from noon to 2 pm. The Center’s goal is to raise $50,000 in unrestricted money (in sponsorships and ticket sales) to fund its new statewide campaign to reduce the marketing and availability of sugar-sweetened beverages in California. With 17-teaspoons of sugar per 20-ounce serving, soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages are major drivers of the obesity and diabetes epidemics.
